There’s nothing quite like the excitement and anticipation of getting a brand new playground.

Now, Bethany kids and their friends won’t have to wait any longer. Bethany Community Park’s new playground is installed and open for playing.

Designed by Open Space Solutions, the new equipment features not only all playground must haves, such as slides and monkey bars, but modern twists too, such as a stand-up tettertotter and accessibility swing.

The park's $100,000 makeover was afforded through community fundraising headed by the Bethany Athletic Society. The society also secured an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant which covered the majority of the cost.

“We are so fortunate to live in such an amazing town with such great community spirit. This was a community build,” she said, sending thanks to Mike Clark Excavating, retired backhoe operator Ralph Hoy, Paul Wilson, Glenn Windrem Trucking, SERVPRO Peterborough, Stella's Getaway, Coach's Diner and every community member who responded to an open-call for help to install the park.

Owner of SERVPRO of Peterborough, Tim Gallant, grew up in Bethany Ontario. He has since moved back with his wife, Kelly and two children. Even when he didn't live in Bethany he still participated in the annual fundraising baseball tournaments and other community events.

This past Friday Tim brought his whole SERVPRO crew to the Bethany Park to assist with the community build of the brand new and much anticipated playground. The park has been fundraising for four years for this new playground.

It was a beautiful summer day full of community spirit and SERVPRO of Peterborough is more than honored to be a part of it. Now Tim and his wife can watch their own children enjoy the playground that Tim once enjoyed!
